Calculation methods

There are two modes available:

The Time Estimator takes sensitivity values provided by the development teams for each instrument configuration and scales them:

S/N = equation

S/N is the signal-to-noise ratio. Src is the intensity of the source. time is the integration time. Atm is the atmospheric transmission. Emis_Telescope is the emissivity of the telescope (=15%). Emis_SI is the emissivity of the science instrument, which is different for each instrument. The REF subscript means that the value is the reference value provided by the development teams.

This scaling assumes background limited performance, and that the telescope, the dominent emissivity source in the science instrument, and the atmosphere are at a common temperature.
